Y/PROJECT Celebrates Versatile Women At Paris Fashion Week

For SS20, Y/PROJECT’s Glenn Martens took his collection to Paris Fashion Week giving the audience a taste of strong female empowerment. "Bending and distorting", each piece incorporated into the collection conveyed a form of self-expression, speaking the designers own truths.

Using women as the main source of inspiration, Martens showcased a "multi-faceted woman, a woman who wears a classic-not-so-classic cardigan/skirt combination with a gold chain bag at day, and a revealing split dress at night". The duality in Martens vision was clear on the runway as we watched some models donning mini silk skirts and others in pantsuits with classic tailoring. A strong female protagonist with a wild and free spirit.

Within the collection, it was also evident a historical reference with embroidered deep oxblood velvet gowns. This for the Y/PROJECT isn't a new concept with an eclectic artistic landscape always at the pinnacle of Martens collections.

In terms of fabrication and creation of each piece, the collection showcased a great deal of tule, lace, and silk. The structure of each piece conveyed duality with some whimsical effortless flowing looks and others holding strong tailored silhouettes.
