Last Wednesday the Avenue24 team had the pleasure of attending Hilary MacMillan's S/S19 Runway at Toronto Fashion Week. Full of bold patterns and quirky accessories, it was a compelling collection with a lot of personality.

Since inception, Hilary MacMillan has been dazzling audiences with her collections that are not only impeccably crafted but touch on important subject matters. Driving awareness to women's rights, size inclusivity, and cruelty-free products, Hilary has made great strides over the years. In fact, this latest Spring/Summer 2019 collection we saw the phasing out of all silks and wools, for a collection that was entirely cruelty-free.

The inspiration for her S/S19 collection came from one of her much-loved designers Yves Saint Laurent and their love for Morocco. Shown throughout Hilary's collection you can see variations of that Moroccan-inspired print. Whether it was a contemporary separate or a flowy maxi, you can see the print throughout in a variation of colors such as blues, reds, white, and oyster.

From attending her show and caring witness to her new collection, we managed to narrow down some of the top trends. From bold pattern to fun fabrics, here are the biggest trends that we caught from Hilary MacMillan's S/S19 runway.

Bold Patterns

Hilary pulled out all the stops this season when it came to pattern. From stunning reds and soft blues, Hilary incorporated her Moroccan inspired patterns into many of her pieces. We love the statement of pairing pattern with pattern.

Fun Slips

Putting her own spin on the classic satin slip, Hilary wow'd using bold colors. What's more, the use of a more loose silhouette made each piece versatile in both day and night looks.

Casually Chic

Casual and comfy clothes have been making waves in the fashion world so you know we are all about this trend. Going for a more athleisure look, Hilary added pieces in the collection that you could wear both out and about or at home.

Suiting

One of our favourite aspects of Hilary's collection was her suiting. Incorporating unique detailing she gave a new name to contemporary separates. Our favourite? This loose fitting look with a statement tie belt.

Flowy Dresses

Whether it was a maxi, a midi, or even a mini, we witnessed a common theme of flowy ensambles. Adding a dreamy element to the collection, we loved the flowy pieces with added ruffle for more dimension.
