Just last week, fashion capital Milan, announced its grandiose return to the runway. The formed group in charge of Milan Fashion Week, Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana (CNMI), took to the press and social media to state that in addition to digital runways (which are sure to become a new norm), physical presentations will make a striking return come September 2020.

For many brands, this marks the start of a new normal, one that reignites creativity. As CNMI continues with digital runways for the time being, the September calendar will emerge as a way to combine both digital and physical to showcase an array of Italian talent and manufacturing like never before.

Milan Fashion Week veterans, Kean and Veronica Etro commented “We have decided to present the collections with a runway show to support the fashion system and the city of Milan with a positive message. ... We value the importance of digital but also believe in the vital energy of live interactions."

Amidst the pandemic, Italy was one of the hardest-hit countries globally with 241K cases and a rising death toll of 34,000. During this time, Milan put a strict quarantine and social distancing effort into effect. Since then the numbers have steadily declined, however, for events such as fashion week - social distancing and safety precautions will remain paramount.
