How To Stay Productive During Quarantine

With Corona isolation in full effect and working from home becoming the new norm, it can be difficult to transition from a clear cut workspace, to a no-boundary, work from home life.

For those new to "work from home", distraction can be everywhere and getting things done can prove to be more and more grueling.

In this article, we're sharing tips to work from home, as self-proclaimed work-from-home veterans. So if you're ready to get productive and build some structure in your everyday quarantine life, keep on reading.

Set An Alarm

With your home becoming your new office and no commute to consider in your daily schedule, sleeping in and pulling yourself together last minute, can be an easy go-to. However, although this may be tempting, sleeping in can actually have negative effects on your overall work/life balance.

To avoid entering a slump or feeling lazier than usual, setting an alarm can help you rise and shine! Aside from generating greater productivity, setting an alarm can actually help with concentration, quality of sleep and overall health and wellbeing. What's more, setting an alarm for an earlier wakeup and doing something productive outside of work can also amp up your day's structure and mood. For instance, waking up earlier and going for a jog, can really boost your mood for the day, set your intentions, and help you feel amped and motivated the rest of the day.

Make Your Bed

You've probably heard this a lot from parents growing up, but what if we told you, it's actually a great way to start your day. Although a simple feat, it can actually provide you with a feeling of accomplishment and can help you feel more put together going through your day at home.

Not to mention, making your bed can deter you from jumping it in later on when you start to feel sluggish.

Distinguish A Clear Work Space In Your Home

For many people, working from home can be difficult when there's no clear boundary between work time and home relaxation. Although working from the comforts of your bed might sound cozy, doing so can actually challenge your focus. Things like taking a nap or scrolling through the Internet may seem way more alluring when you're positioned in a way that you usually do those things in.

Having a clear work area, however, can train your mind to focus on work during your specified work hours. Find a space in your home, preferably with a desk and chair, and set up your work essentials. Layout your work books, laptop and have a few pens and pencils ready. Whether it be a dining room table or maybe even a desk in your room, dedicating that space specifically to work can help you be more productive and spend less time getting distracted.

Take Breaks

Just like if you were at work, breaks are essential to keep the mind fresh and energized. While practicing your social isolation, make time for walks in your backyard or around your house. Spend an hour stretching, grabbing some fresh air outside and cooking yourself a nice sit-down meal. Completely unplug yourself during your break and you'll come back re-charged and ready to finish your day of work.

Make Time For Friendly FaceTimes

Lastly, and most importantly, after you've finished your workday make sure you make some time to connect with loved ones. During isolation, it can be easy to plug into Netflix after the workday or play video games, however, just because you are isolated, doesn't mean you have to lose your social life.

Thanks to modern technology we can talk to friends and family whenever we want. And during isolation, it's more important than ever to keep that social aspect alive and well. Make valiant efforts to talk to your friends via FaceTime or watch a movie with them via Netflix Party. They may seem like small feats but they'll make all the difference.
