Shortly after the announcement that Gucci will no longer be taking part in seasonal runways that coincide with the traditional fashion calendar, Creative Director, Alessandro Michele, showcased the latest and last part of his three-part series, Resort 2021 Gucci Collection via an intimate and unscripted 12-hour Livestream.
Taking place at the Renaissance-era Palazzo Sacchetti in Rome the designer showcased a behind the scenes look of their upcoming campaign images shot by photographer Alec Soth set to release in October.
For many, the collection reigned supreme in addition to the statement Michele made with his models. Telling Fashionista, "The clothes will be worn by those who created them.... "The designers with whom, every day, I share the daze of creation, will become the performers of a new story." As stated, for Resort 2021, the collection was modelled by the Gucci team of designers who worked on it - sharing a new narrative of celebrating the artists behind the stunning collections.
As for the collection itself, in true Gucci style, bold pattern and colouring were at the forefront. Matching tailored suits were once again beautifully constructed and momentous faux fur jackets adding a 60's flare. An element we were surprised to see however was the incorporation of more relaxed silhouettes through denim and corduroy trousers. Although the fashion house is known for this crisp tailored aesthetic, the incorporation of denim provided a more grungy and casual look - an element that steps away from the traditional Gucci aesthetic.
