While many designers opt for runways to debut their collections, providing a unique presentation that resonates with audiences has been growing in popularity. For SS20, Cinq a Sept put together a 70’s inspired showroom in the base of a collectors car dealership. Using red collector cars as a background display, they shot their lookbook as attendees wandered through the ongoing set viewing and playing with the collection.
For spring and summer, the label included a multitude of bright colours and disco-esq silhouettes. In the collection, we saw a lot of pinks, yellows and blues; with a mix of different textures and patterns. Most notably the, classic button downs were spiced up with a mix of patterns. The collection also included swing-style dresses in abstract fabrics, a modern but vintage style that kept pieces wearable but also bold. From both our perception of the collection and Cinq a Septs pillars, the girl they aim to dress is both fun and modern with a retro attitude.
From my perspective, using the presentation to shoot the campaign was such a fun and creative idea. It gave attendees an inside look on what goes on behind the scenes. Having a rack of clothing in the showroom also provided a great way for people to feel and see the products up close.
Overall the collection was stunning and the way in which they showcased it made it on one of the most unique and memorable presentations of NYFW.
