Trend Watch: Soft Suiting

Let's talk about soft suiting because it's a HUGE trend that we've been seeing a lot of on the runway and on fashion week go'ers and street style enthusiasts.

Today, the way I pick my outfits are 99% emotional. If my final look doesn't evoke some type of emotion out of me (excitement, confidence, love, happiness etc) then I change things until it does. I always wanna feel that click, that “THIS is the outfit” feeling. When it comes to suiting, it might be my body type or I just haven't found the right pieces, but a FULL suit has never worked for me (I think it's lack of the right pants to be honest).

With that said, over the past few months I've been gravitating towards adding soft suiting elements into my wardrobe so I can feel great about wearing this comfy and stylish trend. I wanted to make sure that the suit pieces were still the highlight of my outfit and didn't get over shadowed by the other pieces I paired it with. Although my take on this trend isn't wearable in Toronto's current weather, it's in my spring outfit ideas album and as soon as weather permits it I'll be out there in this look and similar versions (below). If you find you're having similar issues like me or a full suit is just too much for you, you can get great jackets/blazers and do a simple dress or monochromatic looks underneath so that the suit jacket will remain the centre of attention. Paired with sneakers and a fanny pack, this could easily be one of the most comfortable, freeing and easy to wear outfits you could put on this Spring.
