Oversized earrings have been a favourite accessory of mine since I was little girl and played with my moms jewelry. They have the ability to transform any outfit which I think is truly magical. For 2019, oversized earrings are making a huge entrance on runways and in stores, and what's great is I'm seeing a lot of clip on options too which is an inclusive way for you to shop the trend if you don't have your ears pierced. Below I've answered some of the top questions to wearing the oversized earring trend; including when to wear them and how to overcome obstacles with larger earrings.
When can the oversized earring trend save the day?
You know those nights where you're in a rush? You have dinner plans, but you just got home from a busy day? Throw on an all black outfit and some big earrings and you'll instantly elevate the look. It takes no time or brain power so you can focus on getting home, getting changed and racing back out.
You find earrings too heavy.
One of my favourite things about the 2019 version of this trend is that it's not all about the gold and silver options. Big earrings are being sold in all the colours of the rainbow and in many different materials (tassel, plastic, faux gem). Often times, these coloured versions weigh absolutely nothing (like the ones I'm wearing below) and you forget your wearing them.
You react to fake jewelry.
Grab a clip on pair and coat the part that touches your ear with clear nail polish. The fact that it's not through your skin will already help tremendously and the clear nail polish acts as a barrier that can easily get you through a dinner out.
Is this trend just for evening?
Absolutely not. Depending on your comfort level (and to a certain degree, workplace). This trend can absolutely be worn during the day. For something more subtle and office worthy, try a grey turtleneck, grey blazer and a silver pair of big earrings. The monochromatic portion of your clothing will act as a nice balance for the earrings and make the whole look feel more office friendly.
