What We Love About City Life

Growing up, I’ve always been a city girl. It’s where my heart has always been, for several reasons. Not one day is ever the same, which makes it more exciting and when you’re living in the big city, you never know what will happen. Through my years of being a city dweller I’ve grown to love particular aspects of the life downtown. So if you’re looking to make the big move, I’ve narrowed down the top things you can look forward to.

You Can Get Anywhere In An Instant

Okay, so maybe many of you reading this are rolling your eyes right now. Commuting can definitely be a pain sometimes because of all of the delays and whatnot. I get it. While there’s definitely some pros to public transportation, you have to admit that it does come in handy. It’s accessible almost everywhere in the city, and when there’s no delays, it can actually get you to where you need to be faster than driving sometimes. It’s also a cheaper alternative to owning a car and paying for parking every day.

Endless Dining Options

In the mood for pizza? Burger and fries? Or Thai? As cities are becoming more multicultural, you can find all sorts of different foods to accommodate your cravings. It also provides an opportunity to discover new kinds of food you’d like, as well as new favourite go-to spots to frequent. You’d be surprised at how many new coffee shops you can discover or even bars to include in your bar hop. If you’re looking to boost your Instagram feed in Toronto, we suggest places like Planta, Cafe Cancan, or Wish Restaurant - they’ll be sure to give you Insta-worthy posts.

Entertainment Is Everywhere

Cities are known for never sleeping. From theatres to museums, you can find things to do around every corner. What’s more, a lot of these entertainment locations will offer free weekly or month special events - take Toronto’s ROM for example they host special exhibitions almost every month.Entertainment comes in many forms, and when you’re in the city, there will always be something happening and in most cases you don’t have to spend money. If you’re on a tight budget there are tons of free events happening in the city, whether it be a pop-up market or a free concert in the park - we suggest checking out BlogTO for a full event list.

You’re Guaranteed To Have Some Sort Of Social Life

No matter how much of an introvert you are, you’re going to run into situations where you’ll have to socialize with people when you’re in the big city. Whether you like it or not, being in the city provides you lots of opportunities to meet new people, which is great for networking and making friends in general. It’s safe to say that your social life will never be boring, and in a city where it’s big and diverse, you’re bound to find just the right people to click with who will share the same interests as you.

Unique Job Opportunities

In today’s world, finding a job is highly competitive. However, living in the city presents you with all the more opportunity.. Due to the vast amount of people and the endless events, you have the opportunity to strengthen your social network, find unique opportunities and you enhance your chance of scoring a higher-paying job .

Independency

Living in the city can definitely get chaotic but over time your skin will thicken. Being in the heart of the hustle and bustle, the crowds of people, you become a lot more tougher. Living alone f in the city really gives you the opportunity to learn independency and get used to handling things on your own. It’s a great learning curve that forces you to fend for yourself, which is just another step to the adult world.

Endless Shopping

Like restaurants, stores and boutiques are around every corner if you love shopping. If you’re a shopaholic, the city is the perfect place for you to explore your options. Whether you’re into expensive high-end designer brands or vintage items on a budget, you’ll definitely find it somewhere in the city. You’ll also discover new small boutiques and independent brands that are unique and not your average store.
