For us, when we think of luxury travel, we think of a fine crafted luggage with the most intricate detailing. I mean, nothing says "I travel first class" more than a stylish, handcrafted leather carry on.

Toronto based and established in 2017, Christopher Howard creates unique luxury luggage for individuals who are tired of the same mundane suitcases you see at every airport you go to.
What we love about Christopher's collections is that his brand works to create beautiful items that people are proud to own and that are distinctly theirs. Using the finest quality leather and solid brass hardware for their products, each item is made in small quantities so that buyers can be assured their pieces are unique. An extremely uncommon quality in luggage markets today (I mean I can't tell you how many Hershel suitcases I see on airplanes.)
While the luggages may not fit every scenario (backpackers I'm looking at you) the intention is to provide suitcases that embrace a special occasion and spirit of travel, and to act as a stylish travel companion. As fashion forward writers, we can appreciate a fine piece of luggage that compliments any outfit.
Each piece is meticulously made, using traditional leather and wood working techniques, hand painted leather edges, and hand sewn handles. And although they don't have a foundation of classic colourways as part of their signature capsule - having variation will always ensure that the pieces are limited and made once and once only.
Our Honest Review
With all of that being said, last week we had the opportunity to test out Christopher Howard's Cabin 45 luggage in the Rideau colourway - and we have to say, we were not disappointed. If you have an appreciation for fine leather, gold plating, and intricate detailing than this is a collection for you.
When we first received the luggage we were blown away by the craftmanship, pictures do not do this luggage a justice. The color on the leather and the hardware was so rich - oxblood and gold, you could definitely tell this was a luxury item.
One of the biggest components of the suitcase that really caught our attention was the detailing. On the perimeter of the suitcase, Christopher added solid brass detailing plated with real gold, which not only added a pop of color but also a pop of elegance and sophistication. In addition, the inscription of the brand name at the top - also elevating the look of the luggage.
As a wearable piece, we found it to be a statement item. It was bold and we found it easily elevated any look that we had, making airport attire chic and sophisticated.
The interior was super spacious, housing enough room for more than a weekend getaway. In addition the interior was decorated with beige fabric - making it sleek and sophisticated.
From our experience and the testing of their product we know that this brand is one to watch. Being crafted by hand just south of Toronto the founder Christopher, likes to say they're “small but very talented team”. We're excited to see the leaps they'll surely make over the coming years. And if you're in the market for a suitcase - their first limited edition, the Admiral colourway is rolling out very soon and definitely a product to get your hands on.
