On The Runway: Kenneth Barlis FW18

Last night, on the second day of Toronto Men's Fashion Week, Kenneth Barlis made his debut in Toronto and transported everyone into a fairytale.

Since inception in 2012, Kenneth Barlis has been internationally recognized, featured in major publications including Vogue and Fiori Magazine, as well as showcased on multiple red carpet events by some of the biggest celebrities. Proving he is a force to be reckoned with.

The collection from last night- and the brand itself is motivated by art, imagination and modern design. On Saturday, his collection featured both men and women, men with more tailored and colorful pieces and women with heavily embellished evening and bridal gowns. From his show we definitely picked up on the fairytale theme from the extravagant detailing and of course the crowns.

Within the show, there was a lot going on in terms of pieces and styling, however we managed to pull the biggest trends from Kenneth's FW18 collection:

Embellishment

One of our favourite aspects of this show was the incredible embroidery and embellishments on the garments. From embellished bomber jackets to full length gowns to crowns each piece was meticulously made to perfection. Our personal favourite was the embellishment on the sheer gowns - STUN-NING.

Pastels

When it comes to menswear Kenneth is not afraid to play with color. From bright pinks, to greens and blues Kenneth showcased the numerous way you can wear and mix color. The pink suits were to DIE for.

Texture

Texture was a major component of this collection, we loved the way that Kenneth mixed different textures in one look yet made it cohesive. From thick metal like materials to velvet and satin, he made mixing pieces look effortless.

Mixed Pattern

Just like color and texture Kenneth was not afraid to pair different patterns together. His use of pattern on pattern made each look eclectic and unique, further emphasizing the fairytale theme.

Watching the Kenneth Barlis show was a once in a lifetime opportunity. Not only were the garments styled to perfection - exemplifying his fairytale theme, but the entire atmosphere of the runway changed when his collection took the stage. We highly recommend checking out more of his work.
