On The Runway: Austen Dor FW18

We love a good suit, and Austen Dor was giving us suit goals at Toronto Mens Fashion Week last Friday. From the variety of patterns and muted tones, we agreed that this collection is definitely one for the sophisticated gentleman.

For those of you who don't know, Austen Dor is a Texas based menswear brand that looks to create an elegant look for the quintessential gentleman. We're all about dressing for what you want and not what you have, so the fact that they believe that a sense of style is a man's definition, resonated with us. What's more all their clothing is hand cut, stitched, detailed and finished by a craftsmen with years of bespoke experience. It's all about quality.

Their collection from last Friday introduced sexy, modern and immaculately tailored clothing with a sway of British and Italian flair. From patterned jackets to neutral tailored pants, we captured some of the biggest trends on the runway:

Patterns

Pattern was a big trend with Austen Dor, incorporating plaids and pin stripes to whole looks or just on piece. Our favourite use of pattern was the plaid on plaid suits, nothing screams elegant and chic more than a co-ord suit.

Muted Tones

This collection incorporated a lot of muted tones which was a nice shift from the vibrant runways we had seen all weekend. Beiges and baby blues made the outfits wearable as well as keeping them more polished and sophisticated.

Coordinating pocket squares

In most cases pocket squares are the most prominent piece of the suit; adding a pop of color or a bold pattern. However, with this collection Austen Dor coordinated the square to the suit making everything flow harmoniously. We love that the square didn't take away from the actual suit and was instead an extension of the look.

Fusing relaxed wear and suiting

One of our favourite moments of the show was the incorporation of a more relaxed pant with a tailored top. Flowing into the almost "athleisure" trend, Austen Dor made joggers look modern and sexy.

As the first show to start off Toronto Mens Fashion Week they definitely started off with bang and are a brand worth keeping tabs on.
