I always argue that skincare is so important. Your face is your canvas, whether you like putting on a lot of makeup or if you like keeping it minimal, having healthy skin is so important for any look.
Recently Drunk Elephant has been hitting headlines internationally and taking the beauty industry by storm, so naturally I had to weigh in.
A few weeks ago after doing my usual Sephora scope out I ended up in the skin care section (as always) and was drawn to their aesthetically pleasing packaging. Eager to try them (thanks to Ayla's recommendation) - I did my research and gave a few of their products a test. After about a month I have to admit I've drank the Drunk Elephant Kool-Aid.
From my research and testing of the brands products, here's what you should know about this emerging skin care brand:
Drunk Elephant (or as they commonly refer to on their site as D.E) was founded by Tiffany Masterson a Houston native who was constantly dealing with skin issues including breakouts, sensitivity and oily skin (talk about a triple whammy!). After trial and error of numerous products she decided to create her own skin care line with a focus on being clean and clinical. This was the birth of Drunk Elephant!
Their products are a mixture of natural and synthetic ingredients to penetrate your skin. With skincare it can be difficult to find products that are all natural and that penetrate deep enough to actually be effective. In addition they wanted to provide a toxic free product without the hefty fragrance or "natural allergic sensitizers". The main value prop of this brand is to provide safe and effective products.
If you're wondering where the name is from, Drunk Elephant as stated on their site "is rooted in a myth that says elephants love to eat the fruit that has fallen from Marula trees where inside their very large tummies it ferments making the elephants drunk!". Since Virgin Marula oil, is an ingredient they use through out their line, it's only fitting.
Drunk Elephant currently has 19 products. From serums to face washes to moisturizers they're in the works to create more invigorating and effective skin care items.
The hype around the brand is definitely real and we fully support it. If you're looking to try out this brand but not sure what to get, here are my top three Drunk Elephant products I swear by:
T.L.C Framoos Glycolic Night Serum
If you're looking for a clearer and smoother complexion this is the product for you. Designed to remove dead skin cells without the harsh side effects like dryness or sensitization, this night serum works wonders - seriously I already know I'm going to have to re-purchase this bad boy.

C-Firmaâ„¢ Day Serum
This pretty little bottle "helps neutralize pollution, environmental stressors and damaging free radicals while replenishing lipids and visibly reducing the appearance of dark spots and wrinkles". What we loved about this product is the radiant glow - if you're looking to brighten and fight against aging, this is the product for you!

Umbra Tinteâ„¢ Physical Daily Defense SPF 30
My holy grail is the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer, so naturally I gravitated toward this baby and I am so glad I did. I'm very big on sun protection - because the sun can be so damaging to your skin. This little guy provides SPF 30 while also adding a nice glowy tint for that "I woke up like this" look.
