Every year around this time, after the clock has struck midnight and the new year has just begun, I find myself Googling "New Years Resolutions". And every year I find myself reading the same resolutions over and over again:
1) Lose weight
2) Save Money
3) Live life to the fullest
I know.. riveting stuff...
They're the same vague resolutions every year that make it half way through the month before we start grabbing that box of Oreo cookies we tucked away. Leaving us feeling more defeated than the previous year.
The New Year should be an exciting time where we can start over (if we want to) and work on ourselves - the resolutions we make then, should mirror that. So, instead of feeding you with the same superficial and probably never going to happen New Years resolutions, I've created motivating tips to help you live your best life in 2018:
Do what makes you happy
Try doing something everyday that makes you happy. Whether it's burning your favorite candle or taking a late night drive, make your happiness a priority and focus less on what other people think. In this day and age especially it can be easy to get consumed with what others think, I mean, your whole life is essentially online for everyone to see. For 2018 design your life around happiness and realize that you don’t need to please anyone else in this world except yourself.
Realize it's never to late
A lot of people have this mind set of "I'm too old" or "it’s too late to start now" but success and happiness are attainable whenever you want, there is no cut off age or time. You can literally become anything you want whenever you want, the only person that's stopping you from achieving it is yourself.
Remember as you walk into this new year that it's never too late to start over, or to find your passion! If Colonel Sanders can open up a KFC and build a million dollar brand at 50, your possibilities are limitless.
Step out of your comfort zone
Let 2018 be the year where you start saying yes more often and step out of your comfort zone. Sign up for an exciting class that you've always wanted to try, say yes to traveling to a different country, learn a new language, whatever it is that you want to do, this new year is a great opportunity to start doing more and seeing the great things that can come from opening yourself up.
Small changes make a big difference
It can be hard making changes to improve your life when you aren't seeing immediate results or results in general, but it's important to remember that great things take time. And if you want to see lasting results you have to wait it out. For example, cutting out coffee might cause headaches for the first 2-5 days, but when you're over that hump you'll start to feel energized throughout the day.
Take care of yourself
This is probably the most important tip I can give you for living a better life in 2018 - and one that I constantly struggle with. With the mindset of creating a bigger and better year than before we tend to forget to take care of ourselves - body and mind. Pushing yourself every single day without breaks can really take a toll on your body. Remember that there's only one of you and in order to constantly do better in life you have to take time to relax.
A new year means new beginnings. So if you want to make changes in your life - or you don't - this new year is a great excuse. I hope these tips helped you walk into 2018 with confidence. I hope you all had and amazing new years eve, and a 2018 thats worth looking forward to :).
