Our Most Popular Articles of 2017

Getting ready for the New Year means reflecting on the year that just passed. Realizing where things have gone wrong and learning to move onto a bigger and better year with more opportunity.

Here at Avenue24, we've had a roller coaster of a year. From doubling our team, to tripling our readership, to launching our first editorial. It's been nothing but amazing strides and it's all thanks to you, our dedicated readers. You've helped shape the future of Avenue24 and we couldn't be more excited for what is to come in 2018.

This past year we've gotten a lot of great feedback on some of our articles. Avenue24's writers have been putting in a lot of work and we've created some amazing pieces that we want to celebrate.

So, as 2017 comes to an end we'd like to reflect on the most popular articles voted by you, our readers:

Rhowan James is not only an iconic Toronto designer but his story had my team and I inspired. He proved that with passion, perseverance and an act for self teaching you can become anything you put your mind to. Through his determination in the fashion industry Rhowan not only became a Toronto fashion sensation but a very talented designer. Which leaves us asking, how could this interview not be the number one article of the year?!

This year on my birthday I spontaneously decided to strap on a backpack and travel around Italy with my younger brother. And, it was the most unforgettable experience of my life.

From stuffing my face with carbs and wine, to train hopping in unfamiliar neighbourhood's, backpacking showed me the joy of simplicity and the beauty of Italian culture. During my trip I created a photo diary of all of the cities I went to; Rome, Milan, Venice and Naples so my readers could follow along. And although the photo's don't do a justice my travel diary encapsulates some of the most beautiful and breath tacking landscapes I witnessed while I was there.

Malaika came into my life before I had even started this magazine. We were both motivated and independent women who just naturally gravitated towards each other, and I am so happy we did. Through the years of knowing her I had a chance to see her transform her (super talented) art into a working business. From front-lining magazines to creating a t-shirt brand, this article touches on everything about her success and motivation. There's no wonder why our interview landed in the top 5 of the most popular posts of 2017.

Toronto Designers are taking the world by storm. From minimalist to eccentric pieces our latest editorial proved that there is nothing Canada can't do - especially when it comes to fashion.

This editorial featured some amazing brands from KAZZ, to Hilary MacMillan, to Potrol, to so much more. I am so proud this made the top 5 in such a short amount of time.

Talented and creative writer Alexis Cochrane wrote this post as a way to vent her frustrations, and what started as a creative outlet took to become an integral issue that people couldn't get enough of. From outrageous prices to a selection of clothing that isn't so trendy, Alexis captures the evident frustrations in the plus-sized fashion world.
