Transition Your Wardrobe: School Casual to Work Professional

School is finally over, you've graduated and landed yourself a semi-adult job. Life's great! But gone are the days where you can show up basically in pjs and an hour late. I myself have been through the tough mornings of putting together a decent outfit for work because all I want to reach for is my tride and true lulu's.

This is because most of my university years, were spent wearing leggings, large sweaters, and tube socks. I was that typical basic girl you see in memes. I know. A virtual fashion CRIME.

I’ve learned my lesson however, moving out of the student world and entering the adult work life where it’s no longer acceptable to wear your favourite exe’s hoodie, that you can be comfy and work appropriate.

So here are my tips to flawlessly transition your wardrobe from school comfort to work comfort:

Trade those leggings for something more stylish, or dress up your leggings with a stylish ensemble.

Okay, no one really like wearing jeans we get it, they're too tight, not stretchy enough and the way denim feels, ugh. But there is a way to ditch the leggings and not the comfort with these pant options.

Still not comfy enough? Although leggings at work are basically a crime, there are ways to get around it. Pair your leggings with a longer blouse with a few cute accessories, or throw on a longer cardigan, and boom! No one will even glance twice.

Ditch the traditional utility backpack and get something that compliments any outfit.

Herschel back packs were awesome for the school year, but now that you're basically an adult it's time to move onto something that amps up your outfit, can be taken seriously and is also useful for all those documents you will be lugging around. Because you will be lugging around documents, and a laptop.

Sneakers no more!

Sneakers in university are essential, sneakers at the office? Not so much. It's time to trade in those runners you've been wearing for years for some stylish new flats, or heels (block heels are all the rage btw) if you're feeling adventureous.

Bye-bye school branded crewnecks and hello trendy knits and blouses

Blouses are your best friend in the office, they're chic, make you look put together when your life's a mess, and lastly they can be COMFY. Staying true to the theme of this post (comfort at work) I've picked some tops that you can trade for your school crewneck and still feel like you haven't changed out of your pjs. Trust me, I have the first blouse and prefer it over some of my pj tops.

Trade the plastic bottle for something more efficient

This isn't really a necessity, but more something to make you feel like you have your life together, because who doesn't with a fancy new water bottle? I realized working late nights at the office and through lunch breaks that water bottles come in handy. A lot of offices will have water fountains where you can re-fill your bottle, anything you can do to avoid using a glass cup thats been used by virtually the entire office is good in my books.
